This journal is a mish-mash of fandom and real life. If you know me offline, be warned that I will go on and on and on and on about TV and fanfic. No obligation to read it, but no complaining if you find it boring. If you're just here for the fannish stuff, feel free to ignore all the babbling about local food, sustainable living, bicycling, and cats. I cut-tag most of the bits where I get my progressive or atheist rants on, but if that's going to give you fits, the "back" button might work better than the "add friend" button.

RL stuff

I'm a bleeding-heart liberal who doesn't find the American "left" to be left-wing enough. Since I usually want to launch the Republicans into the white-hot center of a distant star, the Democrats will have to do despite their flaws. I occasionally explode with liberal rage, but I try to keep it to my own journal.

ironchefjoe is my co-conspirator of over a dozen years; time flies when you're being geeks together.

Fandom stuff

These days, I'm most fannish about Supernatural, with some squee for Leverage. I used to write some fic in Veronica Mars, and lots in the Buffyverse; these days, if I write anything, it's probably in Supernatural. (Also, RIP Sarah Connor Chronicles. Stupid Fox.)

I used to moderate vm_fic (VM fic recs) and fannish_fitness (workout logs). They're still there; I'm just lazy.

I'm spoilerphobic (though I've relaxed on watching previews for my less fannish shows). Spoil me for Supernatural, though, and I cut you.


Ceci n'est pas une friending policy

1. I sometimes add new journals on a whim, but like everyone else I only have so much time. Obviously I'm most likely to add people with whom I'm interacting, so if you just want to lurk, I'll pretend I don't see you over there. Conversely, I often suck at noticing new people, so for god's sake, man, say something.
   
   
2. I subtract journals sometimes so I can fit in new ones, and I'm zen with other people doing the same. I'm not a fan of repetitive LJ memes and the like, so I don't usually add journals that are 90% quiz results or whatever. (If we are gonna be friends, you should already be friends with the cut-tag.)
   
   
3. I try to reply to all commenters in my journal, but sometimes it takes me a week or so. Much of my LJ time is on my phone on the bus over EDGE, so while I can skim a lot, the commenting part sometimes has to wait. I can't check LJ whilst commuting by bicycle, so in the summer I can go days at a time without catching up.
